Community Partners are typically small businesses in the area that partner with CMU students to improve their website/app at no monetary cost. Many community partners found the previous CMU IS Consulting Website text-heavy, outdated, confusing, and weak.

After conducting user research, developing personas, and compiling competitive analysis, we were able to deduce who our users were and what they wanted out of this website. We learned that clear navigation coupled with modern design techniques and compelling testimonials would get the users to apply as community partners.

After several rounds of user testing and iterations of the project, we created a solution that yielded speedy response times, streamlined navigation, more innovative design elements, and a dynamic carousel to display testimonials.

The end product left our client extremely satisfied. At the final presentation, five of the most prominent IS professors were invited and each one was delighted by our work. They were particularly impressed with our ability to create design solutions when facing conflicting user feedback.

How might we...
Encourage active participation and collaboration between community partners and the university?

50% of our users preferred the row view, 50% preferred the tiles view. After careful consideration, our solution was to add a "View" selection to the filter page so that each user can have a unique experience that aligns with their preferences.
